“The Rudie Abides” is DJ Selah’s first solo album. It is a concept album reflecting his long relationship with Jamaican music and its offspring. The challenge was to thread the different waves of ska, as well as diverse themes into a thought provoking tapestry of word sound and power in one album.
The album was written by DJ Selah and produced by Mark Leary of Unity Reggae Band who played most of the instruments as well as all sound production.
Many artists from the ska community are featured including, Steve Jackson and Alan “Ruffcut” Makranczy from The Pietasters, Britany Luna from Catbite, Curtis Reeves, Kelly DeFillipo, and Dan “Dubmaster” Schneider from The Loving Paupers, Dave “Silverfox” Saunier and Marc “Levi” Levine from The Players Band, Meredith “Sister Merf” Leary from Unity Reggae Band, J Navarro from The Suicide Machines, and Matt Mason from Uzimon.
